Yum Yum Girl

The Delta Chi Yum Yum Girl contest from 1963

This is a true story. A movie came out in 1963 called Under the Yum Yum Tree and starred Jack Lemmon and Dean Jones. The characters portrayed by Lemmon and Jones were Delta Chi Fraternity brothers in college. Chuck Childress convinced the Mercury Theater who was showing the movie to sponsor and pay for the prize of a contest called Wayne State Delta Chi Yum Yum girl. This contest was rigged by Chuck who was using this as an excuse to get a date with the eventual winner, Bev Mc Clintock. Over 60 photos were submitted and some of the brothers were furious that Bev was selected. All 60 photos were on display at the house for a week

The irony is that Bev asked someone else out for the chauffeured, dinner date prize.
